McLean Farms, a family-owned and operated agri-business located just 20 minutes northeast of Bendigo, is seeking a Rearing Poultry Hand to be part of our thriving farm operation and our welcoming and inclusive team.

 

About the Role:

The Poultry Hand is responsible for supporting the day-to-day functions of the rearing poultry site. This role involves assisting with the care, growth, and development of poultry, maintaining equipment and facilities, and ensuring high standards of animal welfare. The Poultry Hand will work under the direction of the Poultry Rearing Supervisor to carry out various tasks essential to the smooth operation of the farm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Animal Care - Assist with the daily care of poultry by ensuring proper nutrition, health, and welfare, monitor bird growth and development while reporting any issues, and help implement vaccination and health programs to prevent and manage diseases.
  • Operational Tasks - Carry out daily feeding, cleaning, and maintenance tasks as directed, assist with procuring and managing inventory of supplies, ensure all equipment and facilities are clean and operational, and respond promptly to shed alarms while reporting any issues immediately.
  • Teamwork & Support - Work alongside a friendly and dedicated team in a well-structured environment.
  • Safety & Biosecurity- Follow all biosecurity protocols by completing required training and strictly adhering to measures that prevent the introduction and spread of diseases.
  • Record Keeping - Assist with maintaining accurate records of bird health, feed consumption, and production metrics, and help prepare reports on flock performance and health status as needed.
