About the Role:

As an Assistant Poultry Veterinarian, you will support our Senior Veterinarian in maintaining the health and welfare of McLean Farms' flock. Your role will include routine health monitoring, diagnosing and treating illnesses, delivering vaccines, and advising on biosecurity and disease management. You will play a crucial role in promoting best practices and ensuring McLean Farms maintains a competitive edge in poultry health and welfare.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine health checks, sampling, and vaccine delivery.
  • Diagnose and treat flock illnesses in collaboration with the Senior Veterinarian.
  • Support disease management and biosecurity protocols.
  • Provide advice on animal welfare and industry best practices.
  • Stay informed on poultry health trends and represent McLean Farms at industry events.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Working towards, or completed a Bachelors Degree in Veterinarian Science. 
  • An understanding of animal welfare standards, biosecurity protocols, and regulatory requirements in poultry farming.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability to plan, prioritise, and manage tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Competent in using a range of computer applications.
  • Current C Class Driver’s License.

You may be required to work reasonable overtime to meet operational demands. You must be able to work weekends and public holidays as per a rotating roster.

 

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Australia to apply. 

 

You must not have any birds, pigs or poultry at home, and you must not regularly come into contact with birds, pigs or poultry in order to work at McLean Farms.

To proceed with employment shortlisted candidates will be required to attend a Pre-employment functional assessment and Drug and Alcohol testing.

 

Mclean Farms conducts random drug and alcohol testing across it's sites.
