McLean Farms, a diversified family-owned agri-business based in Pittsworth, 30 minutes southwest of Toowoomba, is seeking a Poultry Maintenance Manager to oversee strategic maintenance operations within our Poultry Department. Specialising in livestock and food production, McLean Farms operates across various agricultural sectors, including grain, compost, and feed mill operations. This role is a key leadership position focused on ensuring asset reliability, operational efficiency, and long-term maintenance strategy.

About the Role

As Poultry Maintenance Manager you will take a strategic approach to maintenance planning, asset management, and team leadership. You will be responsible for developing long-term maintenance strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading continuous improvement initiatives to optimise equipment performance and farm-wide efficiency.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and implement long-term maintenance strategies to align with operational goals.
  • Optimise equipment reliability through detailed maintenance schedules and proactive asset management.
  • Establish and lead a proactive inspection program to mitigate risks and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Foster a culture of safety and excellence, mentoring the maintenance team and ensuring adherence to WHS standards.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and maintenance budgets, identifying cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies.
  • Lead and oversee maintenance projects, including equipment upgrades and infrastructure improvements.
  • Collaborate with farm managers and cross-functional teams to align maintenance efforts with broader business objectives.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and reporting, providing data-driven insights for decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Act as a key liaison between maintenance operations and executive management, providing strategic advice on infrastructure and asset management.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in maintenance management, engineering, or asset management, preferably within agriculture or industrial settings.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop, mentor, and lead teams.
  • Excellent strategic planning and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience in budget management, procurement, and cost control.
  • Technical expertise in equipment maintenance, preventive maintenance programs, and infrastructure projects.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or Trade Qualification in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is desired.
  • Extensive experience (5+ years) in a senior maintenance or engineering role within an industrial, agricultural, or manufacturing environment.
  • Certifications in Maintenance Management, Project Management, or relevant technical areas (e.g., PLC programming, WHS certification) are highly desirable.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing maintenance strategies, schedules, and processes to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Strong leadership experience in managing and developing maintenance teams, fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, control costs, and optimise inventory levels for spare parts and critical components.
