Poultry Veterinarian
Pittsworth, QLD

McLean Farms is in search for a Poultry Veterinarian to join our team.

 

McLean Packing Staff Pty Ltd is a long established, family-owned agribusiness with operations across Queensland and Victoria, specialising in poultry farming, feed milling, cropping, organic nutrient production, and egg grading and packing. We are seeking a qualified Veterinarian to join our Poultry division to provide professional animal health support to ensure optimal flock welfare and performance.

 

About the role:
This position is Poultry Veterinarian responsible for monitoring poultry health and welfare, implementing disease management and biosecurity controls, and supporting farm personnel through training and technical advice. You will work closely with our Veterinarian and Poultry Managers to maintain compliance with regulatory, welfare, and food safety standards.

 

Daily duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct routine flock health assessments to identify and mitigate health issues early
  • Diagnose and treat illnesses within scope of veterinary knowledge and farm protocols
  • Assist with sampling, vaccination programs, and preventative health strategies
  • Provide expert support during disease outbreaks to reduce risk and improve recovery
  • Monitor and enforce biosecurity compliance across multiple poultry sites
  • Provide guidance on best-practice animal welfare standards and poultry care
  • Deliver training programs to farm staff on poultry management, handling, nutrition, and welfare
  • Collaborate with farm management to enhance flock productivity and health outcomes

Skills and Experience required:

  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science & current registration with Queensland Veterinary Board.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of animal health, welfare, husbandry, and disease prevention
  • Minimum one year full time experience in poultry or production animal veterinary services
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to provide training and coach farm personnel
  • Ability to investigate and respond to animal health issues promptly
  • Understanding of infection control, biosecurity, and quality assurance frameworks
