We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Cage Free Assistant Manager to support our Senior Cage Free Manager at our Hopevale farm near Pittsworth, QLD. About the Role As the Cage Free Assistant Manager, you’ll play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our cage-free poultry facility. This includes leading and supporting staff, maintaining bird health and welfare, and ensuring compliance with animal welfare, biosecurity, and quality assurance standards. The successful applicant will help ensure high standards of bird welfare, productivity, and site presentation, while promoting a positive and safe working environment. This role suits someone with strong leadership and organisational skills who thrives in a practical, farm-based environment. Key Responsibilities - Support the Senior Cage Free Manager in daily shed and site operations.
- Supervise egg production, collection, and quality processes.
- Monitor and promote bird health, welfare, and environmental conditions.
- Lead, train, and motivate staff to ensure operational excellence.
- Oversee shed, equipment, and site maintenance activities.
- Enforce company biosecurity and Work Health & Safety (WHS) policies.
- Participate in audits, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Respond to after-hours alarms and support emergency situations when required.
About You - Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or management role within poultry operations (layer, breeder, or rearing environment).
- Strong understanding of animal welfare, food safety, and biosecurity principles.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- High attention to detail with strong problem-solving ability.
- Physically fit and capable of working in a hands-on environment.
- Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and participate in on-call rosters as needed.
