Proudly Australian Owned McLean Farms (VIC) Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and proactive Poultry Manager to lead our operations. This senior leadership role encompasses responsibility for both the rearing and laying departments, as well as involvement in future development and expansion projects.

About the Role As Poultry Manager, you will ensure optimal performance in animal welfare, compliance, staff development, and production outcomes while aligning with McLean Farms’ high standards. Key responsibilities include: - Overseeing daily poultry operations, ensuring a safe, efficient, and compliant workplace.
- Managing rearing and laying flocks for the production of eggs, including the development and execution of breeding, feeding, and nutrition programs.
- Monitoring and maintaining flock health and welfare, including implementing biosecurity protocols and risk management strategies.
- Coordinating poultry schedules and services to meet production and performance targets.
- Organising and overseeing poultry farming routines including egg collection, grading, and packaging, and liaising with internal teams to manage egg supply.
- Directing the maintenance of poultry infrastructure, including sheds, pens, water systems, and fencing.
- Managing HR functions such selecting, training, and supervising farm staff and contractors to ensure effective and safe operations.
- Overseeing compliance with WHS, biosecurity, environmental, and animal welfare regulations.
- Maintaining accurate records of flock performance and production outcomes and using data to inform strategic decision-making.
- Preparing and managing operational and financial reports, including budgets, forecasts, and capital planning.
- Overseeing farm technology systems and ensuring accurate data collection and analysis to support decision-making.
- Representing McLean Farms in industry meetings, audits, and regulatory engagements.
- Working closely with QLD leadership to ensure consistency in procedures and standards across sites.
Qualifications & Experience The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following: - Minimum 10 years’ experience in poultry farming or livestock production.
- A degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science, or a related field (highly regarded)
- In-depth knowledge of poultry health, nutrition, and welfare best practices
- Proven leadership experience in supervising, training, and developing staff
- Strong understanding of biosecurity, WHS, and food safety compliance requirements
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently across all levels of the business
